About Us

The partners of the firm, William A. Sandback and Oscar Michelen have continually expanded the firm’s fields of practice to grow its ability to respond to our clients’ needs. While Sandback & Michelen grew to prominence in the 1980s primarily from handling many high-profile and complex State and Federal criminal defense matters, over the last twenty years its practice areas have expanded to include commercial litigation, personal injury litigation (plaintiff and defense), employment law, real estate litigation, governmental affairs and entertainment law. 

Recognizing the need to give back to the community, Sandback & Michelen attorneys are committed to public service, serving on various boards on behalf of  Bar Associations, not-for-profit entities and community programs.  These commitments serve to further strengthen our roots in our communities and allow us to provide legal insight and advice on a pro bono basis to these valuable bodies and entities.  In 2001, partner Oscar Michelen started “The Law Squad”® a not-for profit entity that provides informative seminars to high-school students and their parents on legal issues of concern.  The program brings judges, police officers and attorneys to schools in an effort to educate the public about such important topics as underage drinking, prom problems and parental liability.
